photography jobs for a 16 year old guy?
i am 16 and i have been doing photography for several years. the past year i have been doing some freelance work. i have shot a wedding and done sports stuff and even a few portraits. things are slow now though and i need money for gas and insurance for my car. will local photography studios hire someone thats 16 and if so whats the best steps to take.
Good job with the freelance work. When I was 16, that’s what I was doing. I was freelancing for a newspaper.
I’m not too sure if local photography studios will hire a 16 year old. Your best bet would be to visit them and ask. Take along your portfolio too. But don’t expect too much beyond helping with lights and entertaining kids and stuff.
Keep up the freelancing, that way you’re working for yourself, rather than someone else.
Cheers!

Wedding photography insurance?
Hi, i was wondering whether wedding photographs would be part of the wedding insurance package together with the rest of it, or its something i should require from my wedding photographer? I remember photographers usually have something called public or employee liability, but i’m not sure, as i’ve heard different things from different people.
I think all UK wedding insurance policies provide cover should something go wrong with your photographs. You should be covered if either something goes wrong technically or if the photography company goes bust etc. The insurance company will then pay for you to ‘re-stage’ the wedding so that you can get the photographs.
I would have thought the photographer should have some form of public liability but this might only cover them if they injure or harm anyone.
It’s perhaps worth taking out wedding insurance anyway to cover other aspects of the day.

Wedding reception photography question?
Currently several major reception venues are insisting that any wedding photographers, DJ’s and florists at weddings on their sites have a $2million insurance coverage or they will charge the wedding couple more per head at the wedding. Of course this is a blatant attempt to get only their own people in for kick backs. Have you had this? Do you know of any reasonable insurers? Do you have a way to get around this? Is it even legal? Thanks!
Actually, the $2M policy is a bit over $1,000 per year.
Seems like extortion to me? – i should stop my answer there……….
but i dont really understand this whole thing, we dont do the suing thing here in NZ, the need for public liability insurance is much less, my cover is less then $us100,000.
it sounds like extortion to me??
the whole insurance industry in the usa confusses me, insurers are involved in healthcare there? the whole system of suing over everything plays into their hands to,
they are legislated croooks – eg AIG, in the usa the rich and corrupt get bailed out by the tax payers – socialising losses, when they make profits its privatised……….thats not capitalism that i understand nor capitalism with a future…….i worry………
