Are there any good studio photography tutorials/information posts?
Good day!
I recently started to get interested in studio photography and lighting, I’m planning on seting up a small studio in my house for personal use only of course. But before I buy anything I’d like to read a couple of tutorials or posts with information about lighting, softboxes and stuff like that. How is everything connected together and so on.
So does anyone know of any good posts about that? If so please share it with me, thanks a lot.
Suggest you read the Strobist blog – although geared towards mostly small speedlights, its extremely relevant (light is light after all..). Lots of info & assignments to practice lighting techniques;

On this Lighting 101 page, a short way down there is a short video on what you need & how to set it up. On the right hand pane are dropdown boxes with Lighting 101 Archive & Lighting 102 Archive which take you step by step through various setups.

How to make my photo look similar to this one?
How to make my photo look like http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=332064111&albumID=1166787&imageID=14913800 . I been trying to figure this out for a while. I have experience in photography, but i love how this photo looks, it’s new to me. I have a sony a330 DLSR camera. If that link does not work, go here http://img695.imageshack.us/content_round.php?page=done&l=img695/6637/l8e1528bc311a4a708701a4.png&via=mupload&email=davidwatkins@globaldestructiononline.com
I want to know how to do it, i don’t want to pay anyone. I want to try my self.
I have light set ups and everything. I know the photograph was not taken by the girl. it was taken by a photographer. I don’t want anyone to do it for me. I would like to learn.
I just want to learn. I’m trying to learn. Do you no any tutorials that you no to start me off?
the photographer used “fill flash” for this portrait. more than likely an off camera flash mounted on a light-stand with an umbrella or some sort of diffuser, as you can see the fill in flash is coming from camera’s left…
in fact, one comment on the photo mentions the use of “ABs”= alien bees.. which are strobe units.
if you like the look of this photo and you want to replicate it, i would suggest you do some research on outdoor portraiture using fill in flash.
