How can I determine what power the lights for use in my photo studio at home? Help please.?

I use a digital camera and open my own studio in my house. recently built a room in my house for it and painted according to the size and depth of the room. My problem now is trying to get information on what the watts of my flash kits should be. The image area is 15×20 if that helps to all and will be used for large group portraits.

I want to be a portrait photographer, that's my next step?

Currently I have a Nikon D70s (this is my first camera) I learned to take good pictures, and something that I really enjoy. I have a buzz to take a picture and editing to look fantastic. It took pictures of everything, but recently I decided to take pictures of people – seems much more interesting and I want to capture every moment.
