Photography As A Career Salary
Can you help guide me for my future?

I have done research and have found no luck. I am trying to pick a future career and have had no luck. I want it to be interesting to me, but make a decent salary. I live in Ohio but want to move to Tennessee when I get older. I want a bigger family so I want a job that can support my family. My interests are:

animals(but I have issues killing them)
psychology
music (singing, playing guitar, writing songs)
drawing
writing stories, and poems
photography (being on both sides of camera, modeling and taking the picture)

Those are what I like, please help guide me. I am a child who needs guidance in their life, I am not as independent as I would like to be. Please don’t give me idea like pop star because I know that I have a very slim chance.

I can’t seem to find a way to incorporate all of these aspects into one profession; however, these are my suggestions.

You need to seperate what you’d rather do for work everyday (not having a choice) and what you’re better off with keeping as a hobby (having a choice). If I were you, I’d keep the photography thing as a hobby. Think about it; if you plan on having a big family, you’ll certainly be taking lots of pictures and being in them already. Plus, there are tons of pictures to be taken on family vacations. As for the animal thing…get a pet or more than one. It will be for you and you’re future family. What’s a childhood without an animal friend? Plus, you won’t be killing them. As for the short stories and poems…go to Webook.com and express yourself. It’s very difficult to become a succeful writer. I’d suggest keeping that as a hobby. But, who knows, maybe the Webook community will give you your big break… Drawing is another thing that I’d suggest as keeping as a hobby. It’s also very difficult to become a succeful artist.

I know what you’re thinking – that leaves you with nothing left! Well, truthfull, psychology is the only career-like thing on your list. I’d suggest it as a future job; however, that’s not the only possibility. I also suggest you look into some careers along the lines of therapist (physical, occupational, etc), teacher (elementary or special ed where lots of arts are involved), social worker, child psychologist, developmental psychologist, school counselor, etc. I can’t make the decision for you, but I think these fields best suit you.

Do your research and remember that a goal without a plan is just a dream. It’s never too early to get your stuff together and it’s never to late to change your mind if you make a mistake. You know you best. Good luck.

3. what salary do you receive if you are involved in the leagues I mentioned?
4. Advice/comments

1. None of those companies hire photographers so it is impossible to “get in to them”
2. Sure, but not neccesary.
3. Many photographers make $0. Other photographers make $100k per year or more.
4. All sports photographers are freelance. That means you spend a great deal of money out of pocket on shooting a game and hope you can sell your images for a profit.
