Taking photos in dark/dim restaurant using P+S digital camera?
I realize the conditions aren’t ideal for great photos, but I plan on taking pictures at a friend’s birthday party in a fairly dim restaurant (in the evening.) It’s a fairly special event, and I would like the photos turn out as best as possible.
I have a Canon PowerShot A570 IS digital camera, and have been trying to fiddle with settings and taking ‘practice’ shots at home in the evening….but I won’t have time to fiddle with settings at the party.
Does anybody have some useful tips, or suggestions for which settings I should use to get the best out of my camera? I am mainly concerned about lighting, and seem to have problems with photos either being too dark, or completely blown out/overexposed.
(If it’s not obvious, I’m a beginner in photography.
Thanks in advance!
Can you use flash? It would help tremendously. If you set the ISO up to 400, your flash would reach farther also. Looking at test images, I think ISO 400 still gives decent quality. It starts to break down quite a bit at ISO 800.
