Photoghraphy Internship in New York?

I’ve recently moved to NYC and am an aspiring photographer. I thought I’d try to find work assisting photographers, but no one seems to want to hire me without having assisted here in new york. Desperately wanting to get in the game and at least be exposed to the industry and meet people, I’ve decided to try to find an internship here in NYC and have answered some ads here on craigslist, but havent gotten any response, figuring about a hundred other people have applied for the same position.

My question is….anyone know how I can get a photography internship here in NYC besides just looking at craigslist?

Or any ideas how I can get into the industry here? I like this city but am finding it quite a hard place to get my foot in the door.

Thanks a lot! :)

2 suggestions:
1. Pick up the phone and go and see photographers – talk to them face to face.
2. It could be a lot easier abroad if you’re American – people tend to give you just a little more time if you’re obviously from somewhere else… don’t underestimate the power of being different!

Good luck.

Support Following My Dreams – My Internship Opportunity

Hello friends!  I have been offered a chance to go to New York City and work for MTV Networks doing something relevant to what I am going to school for and am passionate about – photography.  I have always wanted to live someplace else, go to New York, explore and live like I hadn’t before, so this internship offer is kind of like a dream come true…except that it is unpaid and they do not provide housing.

I wrestled with my decision for an extremely long week.  I cried, I prayed, I fasted, I asked anyone and everyone for advice, I churned every scenario over and over in my head, pro and con after pro and con.  And I came out with the conclusion:

I had to go to New York and pursue my dreams.

Some think that I am being foolish with my decision and don’t believe I have reality in mind.  However, I am very well-aware of most of what this implies.  I have to put school off for a semester, I may potentially lose a great job, and I will probably build more debt.

It is ok.  I am now at peace with my decision.  “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…Let the word of Christ dwell in your richly…” Colassians 3:15-16

Now that I have made my final decision, THERE IS MUCH TO DO!!!  I have but only a few weeks before I leave and a whole laundry list of “to-do’s”!  Find a solid place to live, learn and buy train passes, figure out where the “cheap” places to eat/do laundry/do necessary living things are, and RAISE MONEY TO GO!!

Unfortunately, because I haven’t been working a steady job (as well as just being the typical poor college art student), I have absolutely $0 saved.  And this is not a good situation for living in NYC.

Because of these circumstance, I am asking each and everyone of you to find it in your heart to contribute whatever you can to help me make my dreams come true and have potentially amazing things happen in my future!  To do so, please visit GoFundMe.com to donate.

I thank all of you for reading and am looking forward to awesome things to come!!!

Does anyone know of any Fashion Internship in NYC?

Hey, I’m 17 turning 18 in 2 more months about to graduate highschool. I’m looking for an internship preferebly with fashion, but really i’m into art. Theater,Photography, Drawing and Costume designing. Anyone know of anywhere looking for a fast learned who is very creative please let me know.

For my internship in New York City, I did the InternNYC program. They helped me get my internship, housing, social events, and even transportation. I’d recommend it since it’s a great program and I really feel like I got soo much out of it.

I know other students who did fashion, photography, and even theatre. Might be something for you to consider and since everything is included in the program, it makes it really simple…

Internship for high school student in NYC or Irvine?

Areas I’m interested in are art, photography, business, investment banking, graphic design, and advertising. Can anyone suggest an internship – paid or unpaid – either in Irvine, CA or NYC? I’m academically qualified and I have a photography and graphic design portfolio.

schools.medianewsonline.com – I found such internship info here. It has lots of internships, job openings and scolarships for college students.
