What is the best books to get for begining photography?
I am a begining photographer. I have a fujifilm finepix S1800 series. I am wanting to buy a few good books about learning how to take great photos and photography in general. What do you suggest?
I’m going to recommend a few books.
1. the instruction manual. You’ve just bought a complex tool, best to know how to use it.
2. The practical Zone System by Chris Johnson
(learn how to correctly expose. THe one downside is that the books begins with black and white photogrpahy. I have found this very helpful in understanding how camera exposures work. And after bearing with it, it gives a much deeper understanding how colour exposures work too.) — SOme people like Ansel Adams book, “the negative” i found it too difficult to understand the first time i read it.
3. From here, you can begin to choose your own books and inspiration.
Light Science and Magic by Fil Hunter
(learn how to observe environmental light and use it)
Photography THe art of composition
(it has some nice assignments to practice developing your own style)
Any photography magazine that inspires you.
