How can I find a paying internship or a job in the magazine industry.

I am a 24 guy from Texas and I am in search on finding a job where I can use my degree in Communications. I want to find a site where there are job postings or paying internships in the magazine industry, talent agencies, or with photography. I do have a photography background. I have looked at ED2010.com but majority of the jobs are in New York.

Does anybody have any advice or other job listings in the magazine industry that I can look for?

Try mediabistro.com

Your other option is to familiarize yourself with magazines produced in Texas – smaller, local outfits.

Texas Monthly, for example, is look for interns. I doubt that it is paying, but you have to start somewhere and it may lead to a job in the end (that’s what my cousin did – he was an intern and then worked for the paper for 10 years).

Can anyone direct me to online photography degrees? Or tell me what classes are required? In Tx.?

I’d like to become a photographer but I work full time and have a family, so an online degree is currently my only option. Does anyone know where i can find this info because I have not been able to find any good websites regarding this and I’m very computer literate so it’s not for lack of trying to find it. I’m in Texas if that helps.

You could check out the New York Institute of Photography at http://www.nyip.com

I have looked into it, but I never seem to have all my ducks in a row to do it. I know several people who have done it and they all like it.
