Is anyone a sales representative for a professional photography studio?
looking to get an idea for what salary or commision rates are good and also a job description.
It is going to vary greatly. Are you wanting to sell your photos or are you looking to work for a studio part time? It is also going to depend on where you live. Are you merely looking for a studio that pays a finder’s fee for referrals? Be more specific and I can give you better answers.

What business transaction do I need to keep track of for a small business?
I am going to get a business license to open an in-home photography studio. I will not have any employees, I will be the only person. What transactions do I need to keep track of, and what is the best way/program to do it? When I keep track of sales, do I include sales tax when I record it? Also, don’t you have to turn the sales tax you collect in to the state or something? Lastly, since it will be self-owned, do I have to file taxes for the business or can I just claim it on my personal taxes or do I have to do both? How do I distinguish between business and personal finances?
First, establish what services and or products you will be getting income from. Are you taking photographs only and delivering proofs, or will you be charging for photos as well?
If your business is considered just a service, you do not have to charge sales tax ( this should be researched in your state just to make sure). If you do charge sales tax, you have to submit quarterly reports.
Since it is self-owned, you can file the information, income and related expenses, on schedule C of your individual tax return.
Remember to keep track of home office square footage and related utilities.
In order to distinguish between personal and business, use software like QuickBooks and track all income and related expenses through that. You can do things like create invoices too.
Set up a separate bank account if you haven’t done so already.

I need some ideas for my photography studio……..?
Hey all!! I would like to offer some products to sell at my photography studio.
I have a gorgeous studio where I do all of my indoor shots for kids, seniors, families, pets, etc. However, I want to offer products that will bring people in my studio for other reasons than just getting their pictures taken.
I tried selling picture frames, but it did not bring in much business. I also do sell my work, which sells very well, but I would like to offer my customers a little more.
Does anyone have any suggestions? My studio is located in the heart of our downtown city and there are other really neat little shops around.
I also have two very large front rooms in my studio that I only use at the moment for displaying my work, but these two rooms would be ideal for neat little things for sale.
I was thinking of things that people could buy to go next to their pictures….candles, knick knacks, etc.
Any other unique ideas?????
Hmm. That is a good question. Something that really ties in to what you are already doing would make the most sense.
If you do weddings, I could see things like bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts. For senior portraits, maybe work an arrangement with the local schools where you can use their logo on different types of mechandise? You pay them a percentage.
It is a very good thought on your part, but I agree it is a tough one.
