Looking to Buy a Canon DSLR for christmas.. Which Would be suitable for me? Amatuer Photographerr.?
Im 16 and Looking to buy a DSLR for Christmas.
Hopefully
Err Yeah.
So Rite now im using My Canon eos 500 Film .
Im have absolutely no clue on what camera to buy.
Im not very good at photography , im just getting into it. but i know its going to be a long term thing.
id like to buy a canon so i can alternate lenses with the Eos that i already have.
Uhh I Like street photography and hope to do more of that.
Yeah so if you have any Canon suggestions. But Others is cool aswell.
Oh and price range would be like under $1800.
Thanks
if your into photography and know its going to be a long term thing and your budget is $1800 I would suggest going for the canon 50d. The canon 50d is more of an intermediate camera opposed to a beginner camera. Its big, a little heavy, more durable then the cheaper canons, has 15 mega pixels and a better sensor for taking better images. Its a good camera to grow as a photographer with

Streetscape photography contest
Lafango’s latest ‘Streetscape’ contest is now accepting entries. This contest is all about capturing, a street, road or a side-road that has a story to tell. The most creative entries, chosen by Lafango community, wins cash prizes worth $500.00.
You don’t have to travel afar for getting the perfect picture. Look around you, familiar streets or roads can offer great shots. The winning entry will be combination of photography and artistry. You can use natural elements to make your everyday street picture, dramatic. While capturing a busy street, with all its hustle, bustle, is an art in itself.
Here are some ideas that you can apply to your pictures:
- If you are trying to capture your choice of street or road in dramatic light, try shooting half an hour after sun-set. At this time of the day, shadows are deeper and colors are richer.
- Side streets, look great after a storm. The wet vegetation looks dramatic in the light.
- Breaking the rule of shooting in the sun, can produce great street photography. Direct sunlight can produce dramatic shadows.
- All streets have a story to tell: Capture as much depth in your pictures as possible – your composition should have something in the foreground, middle ground and background.
- While shooting an active street, people can be suspicious about someone trying to take their picture. To avoid suspicion, smile and be polite, if someone insists be ready to delete the picture in question.
- Take a lot of pictures, to ensure that at least some of the pictures are able to display the spontaneity, you were trying to capture.

What digital single reflex camera and lens options are best for what I want to do?
I’ve been interested in photography now for 6 or 7 years after inheriting my father’s Nikon F401x, another Nikon (I believe also from the F series family), a small Yashica 35mm slr, and a huge collection of Nikkor lenses. I also have a small Canon g7 point and shoot.
I’ve become particularly fond of street, portraiture, some macro, candid, nature photography, and something my friend likes to call ‘secret photography.’
Despite all this, I know nothing about digital slr cameras and am looking to invest in one long-term. I had been contemplating the Canon EOS 40d and weighing it against the Nikon D300 (because I’m already familiar with Nikon slr’s).
What camera would be the best option for what I want to do? It doesn’t even have to be the EOS 40D or the D300. Any recommendations on particular lenses?
Thanks!
If you have Nikon F401x (aka N5005), then you probably have a good collection of Nikon AF lenses. You start a Canon system from square one. You start a Nikon system with a well-stocked camera bag.
I have a Nikon D200 and love how all my older Nikon AF and manual focus lenses work perfectly with it. The D300 is a nice advancement, that has most of the capabilities of the D3, but with a great difference in price.

Trust me, if you’re a Nikon shooter, you’ll find the Nikon D300 to be a natural fit in your hands.
I hope this is helpful.
