Photography – Looking for a studio lighting kit?
I’m looking for a studio lighting kit within a budget ($2000-$2500). Any advice?
This is what I have found so far, but should I go for something with more wattage?

flash is better than hot lights, imo..
the kit that im using is awesome ,a nd i love it…
ive got Alien bees- the kit i got was “the digi bee” with 400w heads.. for my smaller studio 400 watts is almost more than enough……
altho, if your setting up sihlouette shots, hotlights are MUCH easier to use….

Je regarde la vente aux enchères, sont-ils 160WS lumières. Pas beaucoup de puissance par le biais de la boîte légère ou hors d'un réflecteur. Ils devraient être bonnes Bien que pour des plans fixes. Il est un bon prix pour tellement de choses, un bon début. Vous souhaitez flash plus puissant, 400 ou 600 serait plus utile. Ne pas aller avec les lampes à incandescence ou de tungstène pour le glamour, Ils fondent simple humains.

I have a canon rebel Xsi.I’ve had it for about a year now and I’ve decided to get a studio kit including 2 moonlights and flashes and 2 backgrounds. The problem I have is getting the flashes under the moonlights to go off with the camera shutter. I need some sort of remote the connects to the moonlights and the camera.I’ve seen one before I just don’t know what it’s called. Please help.

I presume you mean monolights?? Not heard of moonlights in the studio!
You have various options – most monolights have a simple optical slave. If you have an on camera flash, set it to manual (NOT TTL) and fire it at the lowest power setting it will go. It will trigger the monolights. Don’t use it in TTL mode as TTL sends out a pre-flash which will set off the monos and they won’t recharge in time for the main flash.
Next option is to control them wired – you use a PC sync cord. If your camera has a PC sync socket, one end of the cord goes into it, the other end is a 1/4″ jack which goes into the sync socket on the monolight. If your camera does not have a PC socket, you have to buy a hotshoe to PC adapter, which slides onto the camera hotshoe and has a PC port in the side.
Best option is to use wireless radio triggers – means you can move about without trailing wires everywhere. Best at the moment for cheapness and reliability are the RF602′s. The transmitter slides into the hotshoe, the receiver plugs into the 1/4″ socket (via an optional 1/4″ jack).
Your camera will have a max sync speed (1/200 or 1/250) above which you cannot shoot, otherwise the rear shutter curtain will start to show as a black band across the image. You can shoot at or below the sync speed, depending on how much ambient light you want to blend into the scene.
