Explain the terms medium and median as it relates to photography?
I’m having a quiz in photography class and this is one of the questions on the quiz but I haven’t been able to find the answer.
Medium refers to two things.
The size of film, between large format (4×5 inch or larger) and small format (35 mm). A medium format camera uses 120 film as a rule.
Medium also refers to the material (medium) where the final print is placed (photographic paper, Inkjet paper, mugs, tee-shirts, etc.
Median is a term used in statistics, so I don’t know what your instructor is referring to with that term. You will have to ask or look in your lecture notes. On the other hand, it may be a ‘trick’ question.
