what should i charge for 8 fully edited photos on a disc?

I will be going on location and doing mostly outdoor and some indoor. not to sure how long the shoot will last but she wants 8 FULLY edited and enhanced internet ready photos on a disc, not printed. im not too sure how much to charge. considering ill be on location doing this shoot should i charge per hour? per photo ? or give her a price for exactly what she wants? ive been doing photography for a few years now and don’t consider myself professional solely for the fact i have never made money off it. if you want to see my work in order to better judge what prices should be please let me know and i will post my website. please help !!!

If you do your job as a photographer, you will not have to do any retouching (what you call editing) This will include controlling the lighting ratios and assuring that the makeup artist has done a good job before you start shooting.

The shoot should cost your client about $150 per hour plus expenses. Expenses include travel to the shooting sites and the makeup artist

What little retouching is necessary, should be billed at the going rate. Call around and talk to retouchers in your area. You may find that they can do all the retouching on the eight images at a lower cost than you can, since they are professionals in that arena. A fair per hour retouching fee would be between $50 and $75 per hour depending upon how difficult the process is.

This will be a two phase process. First after you have copied all the images from the shoot to your computer, you will have to edit (sort) the best from the rest. Next you will have to compile a sample CD of those 25 or so images that have been resized to 600 x 400 @ 72 DPI so your client can pick the eight images they want retouched.

In the end you have taken on a huge project that will consume a minimum of eight hours of your time. How much is that worth?

Price per hour for creative services?

What is a reasonable rate per hour for high quality photoediting? like in-depth photoshopping on professional photography?
I was thinking around 13$/hr, but im unsure. thanks!

I usally base mine on the level of difficulty and the quanity in which I’m working with. If it’s one photo and it’s very difficult to either fix or create whatever image the person is reqiring I would ask about $85 per and then $50 and the $35 for something simple I also just add a $15 editing fee for when I take the pic.s and I edit them myself for say like adding text or something. If it’s something I was fixing from not taking as well as I should have in the camera I don’t charge for that.

How much should a graphic artist charge for contract work? (Touching up photography)?

I’ve been asked to touch up pictures for a photographer on a contract level and because I’m freelance and never actually charged before, I have no idea what asking price I should go for. Do I charge per picture? Per hour? All of this is obviously being done on Photoshop programs. Any suggestions?
What should an hourly price go for? Like $20 or $30? I just have NO idea!

Think about it this way. Find out what the client wants done and how long it will take you. Let’s say you do the work on a weekend and it takes you 2 or 3 hours, a good little chunk of the day. Is that worth $100 to you? $150 maybe? Sounds good to me to start with if your starting out. You develop an idea of how much to charge over time, it just sort of comes to you like second nature.

I graduated with an art degree in 99, and even after a few years of graphic jobs, freelancing, starving and selling my own artwork in a gallery, I’m still learning… and my rate per hour is growing, naturally. Good luck!
