What are the industry standards for pricing for a freelance photographer?
My friend and I have an up and coming photography business. What we need to know is what is the industry standard of pricing for a freelance photographer. We cover weddings, special events, portraitures, and sporting events.
it depends where you are of course
i have a hourly rate (min 2 hours per job), a half day and full day rate, anything over that is by negotiation (and very rear).
for weddings – which i dont do anymore i would offer 3 options and prices – ask specifically how wedding fotogs do it in your country in another question maybe

The homepage is just awful. Period.
For the photos on the gallery pages, because of the border/cropping you are showing people with their heads cut off. NOT good advertising. It made me not to even want to click on to see more (but of course I did, and found out the others were fine, though nothing special).
Also, for your galleries, put the BEST photos out first – the ones people want to see – the beautiful bride, the bride and groom, a photo of the couple at the altar, etc.
The page which lists the packages is a mess.
Too bad I clicked on the About Me page last – if I would have clicked on it first, I would not have continued. You need your certifications, degrees, etc. listed there.

How much should I charge for photographing my first wedding.?
I was asked to shoot a wedding next month. I have ZERO experience with weddings and most of the pictures I take are just for fun. I just recently got into photography so this whole experience is a bit overwhelming. I have no idea how much to charge. The woman getting married is a relative of a friend and she does not want a professional, she wants an amateur. In case location has any part in pricing, we are in NY. How much do I charge???
I can’t give you an exact price, but I can offer things to consider. Charge enough to cover your expenses including travel and parking. Then add on an hourly fee, remembering you are doing this mostly for the experience and your fee should be in line with your level of experience. If this works out, then you can gradually raise your prices as you get more experience.
