IR filter for digital compact?
I have an old Nikon Coolpix 775 which is capable of taking good IR shots, it seems – I’ve done a bit of research on the net to check. I’ve never done any IR photography before and my knowledge of filters is limited, so I’m hoping someone rather more knowledgeable about these things might be able to advise on which filter(s) would be a good starting point.
In terms of filter holder, I know Cokin do one designed to utilise the tripod mount of compacts, so I would be particularly interested in Cokin filter advice for shooting IR because there seem to be so many IR filters to choose from.
A Kodak Wratten filter 88b ir filter is recommended specifically for the Nikon Coolpix 775, but a Cokin 89b filter might also work. The Kodak filter is a gel.
There are some good digital ir tips at apogeephoto.com:

Fisheye Lens Nikon D90?
I cannot afford a ‘proper’ fisheye lens so was looking into an extension type thing that fits on the end of my current lens (18-105). I was looking at the following on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/67mm-43X-Wide-Angle-Fisheye-Lens-for-NIKON-D90-D80-D50_W0QQitemZ180444984144QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CamerasPhoto_CameraAccessories_CameraLensesFilters_JN?hash=item2a035bf350
Will this give a fisheye effect, im not sure because im new to photography. I know that the picture will be in a circle in the middle of the image with black surrounding it because its an extension. But will the end picture have an effect like this?

Cheers guys!
Actually you have posted quite a bad example of a fishye there, so yes, that ebay lens will not cover the a full sensor frame, even on a 1.5x crop sensor!
http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/popup_photo.asp?name=69_big.jpg this is what a proper fisheye should do, so yeah you get what you pay for. I would personaly save for a proper one than wasting your money on ebay rubbish.

What DSLR camera is best for me?
To say a little about me I’m fifteen and I love photography. I currently own a Nikon d3000 but would like a camera that does a little more for me. I take many sports photos (skateboarding specifically) and need a camera that is better suited for these photos. I also take pictures of every day things that are unique to me (flowers, buildings, ect.) I’m going to British Columbia this summer and would love to have a great camera to capture our trip. I’m on a $2,500 dollar budget (excluding a lens) of which I’m paying with my own money. I was looking into a Canon 5D Mark II, but a review on c-net stated that it’s continuous photo’s weren’t too good and that it was made for single shots. So I leave you with the question of which would be a good camera for mainly photographing skateboarding but also the every day things? Any help is greatly appreciated!
I would suggest to go with Nikon D300s 12.3 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera
