I want to try photography..what are some basic tips for me?
My New Year’s resolution is to pick up at least 3 new hobbies..one of them being photography. Anyone have any basic suggestions. I am interested in photographing nature and candid shots

First try looking through the eyes of the camera. By this, I mean – try and focus on things and objects that you probably don’t focus on in daily life, and then try and imagine what it would look like if that image is captured.
Next – take the photo.
Then, compare the photo you have taken with the image you had in your mind when you took it.
Chances are, there will be a BIG difference.
It will take a while for you to “see” things the way your camera does – but when you do – you’ll have turned into a “photographer” – and not just someone who takes photos.

What DSLR should I get if I’m on budget?
I’m looking to get a camera and start taking some photography – hoping to take it for A-level if I can.
So good DSLR’s? (: Also any photography tips? I like taking nature/landscape sort of shots.
Budget? Would be around £300-400, but if I can get something good for beginners for less, I’d obviously do that…
I recommend a Canon Rebel, like the Canon Rebel XS (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=17316) it’s a kit that comes with a Lens and it’s excellent for beginners. It’s entry level, yet allows you to take amazing photographs.
Photography equipment is expensive, but this is the best bang for your buck. You can upgrade cameras and lenses later as you develop your skills.

Photography workshop to be held at Burke
The outdoors will be a large part of a one-day photography workshop being held at the Burke Museum on the University of Washington’s Seattle campus. “Focus on Photography” will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 14 and is free with museum admission.
