difference between the XTi lens (55 mm versus 100 mm)?

What is the difference between being my lens of 55 mm versus 100 mm. I have to shoot jewelry. I just bought the 65 mm 2.8 macro, but I had to go back, that was the way to closing. Can someone explain why I have to get 100 mm instead of which I have already 55. Is it better for jewelry photography? (Of course, I am using store light, tripod … etc..) Thanks!

Tips on using a photo light box please..?

I bought a photo light box on Ebay and it doesn’t have any intstructions with it. Call me stupid, I guess it must be common sense or something. It’s a fold up photo box that came with 2 light stands.

Well, after looking at the link, I would not have paid more than $15 (shipping included).

First thing I would do is throw the “2 high-intensity lights” in the trash. Even looking at their photo, you can’t see the lights having any effect. I would replace them with something like http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xj1/R-202066791/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 You would have to adjust their distance to the tent, but it will provide more light than the ones they sent you.

How to capture a pure white background in photography.?

I'm trying to take photographs of Some figurines. I want the background to come out as white as possible (so as To Be invisible on a white web page). What's the best way to do this?'m Using a "light tent" but the background is still Slightly greyish. Is this unavoidable, ie do I Need to photoshop the background? I'm not a photography expert.

The problem is the camera's light meter Sees a scene as an average gray scene. So If There is a lot of white background, the camera will want to make the average gray scene. If You Are Able to, light the background with a light brighter Then the figurines. Could you try over Exposing stops the shot by 1.5 or so, as another way of getting a brighter background. If You are still getting a gray background Then Selecting the background in photoshop You Can erase it to white.
