Photography Ken Rockwell
I just bought a D5000, my first DSLR. What’s the difference over D90, am I missing something new?
I bought the camera by reading the advice on Ken Rockwell site.
You can make serious photography with it right? I saw some great shots even made on a D40.
Ken, Phil, Steve, Jeff, Dave, … all highly recommended this camera. You’ve got a great camera so go out and take (great) pictures.

What specific Photoshop technique was applied to these photos?
I came across some very nice 35mm film scans on Ken Rockwell’s photography site. He says they were color corrected with a simple “curves layer” in Photoshop, but I’ve not been able to replicate the results (see link below). Clicking on each image links to the original untouched scan for comparison. Appreciate any insight on what was done to achieve the dramatic improvements as the photographer does not respond directly to e-mail. Thanks.

If you click on the image, you can see the original, unedited scan.
Kodakchrome was known for being highly saturated, as well as having a heavy blue cast. So what it means is that he used the Curves feature in an adjustment layer in Photoshop to correct the color.
He probably adjusted the red, green, and blue curves differently to achieve the correct color
Photographer Ken Rockwell – Photo Composition Tips:

If Ken Rockwell had never got into photography would your mind be a blank?
I had never heard of him till last year, and every time I see his site I notice its just a stream of infomercials.
He recommends whatever he can get someone to advertise on his site.
He is not independent or a reliable source of information, he is a clever businessman certainly, not a philanthropist!
Heres some quotes from his gushing over an alrounder lens……

“It’s a miracle!” “Life – Changing”
“No more tripod! VR obsoletes tripods”
– serious is the guy ok? tripods are so much better than VR does he think water runs up hill?
