The best site you used or are using to get information about digital photography?

I just bought myself a DSLR, but I am almost total beginner. I would really like to find a world-known site, where I can learn about things (with tutorials) and learn from other users. I already searched on Google, but I just don’t know which site to trust, because there is lots of them, but don’t know which is the best and is something special. Thanks for help.

is one of the absolute best online photography communities that I have seen. Everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned professionals, can feel comfortable going there to learn about photography and display their photos.
There are tutorials, discussion forums, and you can even request critiques on your photographs.

Anyone sell their photography to newspapers,magazines,advocates etc?

I am curious how most small newspaper outlets work? Do they contract photographers? Do they purchase off stock image sites? Do they hire full time photographers?

I am looking for information on contract work and stock image sites.

A freelancer has the right to lease (not sell) their work in any market they wish.

I recommend that you purchase the book “Photographer’s Market 2007″ for more leads than you can handle.

The money in photojournalism is not great… maybe $25 for a one time usage right.

If you have the right stock you can make a few hundred dollars but you release the image for a byline… and can never commercially use the image again.

You could luck up and get some really great images that you will receive a little more for… but remember, the more money you make the more rights you are selling to the image.

Professional photographers always try their best to use real or available light. It wraps around a face and doesn’t look blasted or washed out like a flash can sometimes.

5. Shoot lots.

The last tip that will improve your pictures, is to just shoot more – shoot lots! You’re shooting digital right, so shoot lots and delete the ones that don’t work out? When you shoot more, you’ll improve your chances of capturing that great shot. When you photograph people, they blink occasionally, so if you shoot a few more frames you’ll get the shot without the blinks. And by shooting more, you’ll be practicing different ideas and approaches. All of which will translate into better photographs.
