I have to do a website to display and advertise my photography … Where I can get one for free?

I have to do a website to show and announce my photo … where I can get one for free? I'm interested in something like smugmug.com, but also have an annual fee … Is there a host that provides a free site for you?

Ok … Please sit back and let you key in the real world. Not everything is this life is free. Yes, you can get some free stuff, but in 99% of cases, you get what you pay for. Any free "website" will be a very low level. HIS name is not the name domain. There will be annoying ads all over the place. You will be sharing the site with thousands. You need a site with the domain name registration YOUR OWN REAL. Say you want to show and advertise your picture, but if you use a free site, complete amateur that is making a strong statement and clear that you are an amateur. You will immediately be dismissed as someone who is not a pro caliber and accomplished photographer if all you have are scattered in places like Flickr photos or Deviant Art so I'm not saying there's anything wrong with these sites. They are fine for people who just want a place to store photos online and network with friends, and there are some great, QUALIFIED photographers in some of these sites. But the tone of your question, I guess you are wanting to approach this as far more serious and some aspects of the business in mind. In that case, forget the amateur photo hosting sites. Nobody's going to take seriously as a business if that is all you have to show for itself. You would make a statement loud and clear that you are too cheap, or unskilled or unfamiliar even to have an own website, and you're losing potential customers, even before starting. Think about it and hope you will realize what I'm saying is true. You need to look perfectly objective, as anyone viewing your site would. If you project the impression of a cheap fan, then that is how it will be considered, and people will pass on what they consider a "real" photographer their needs. I'm probably gonna make some people mad with this answer, I know that some great photographers on Flickr, but the big difference is that they are focusing as a business. That's my main point. If you want to be a project in a business like manner, places like Flickr or Photobucket or SmugMug are not the place to do it. steve

Help with domain forwarding?

I have a website through a free host for my professional photography. I’m happy with the free provider, however the website address is not too presentable to potential clients. I know there are free services to shorten domains such as (.tk, cjb.net) But i would like a .com. I am under the impression that one can buy a .com and just have it forwarded to have it mask my free site when a person goes to it, Is this correct and does anyone know of any sites that offer cheap ad-free forwarding?

Just go to godaddy spend $10/year on a domain and you can do the fwding from their control panel.
