Special effects in portrait photography – what to charge?

I’m about to start a side business in photography and I’m trying to build a price list to offer. I have become pretty proficient in photo shop and have learned to add/create some special effects – a little time consuming but really adds alot and that’s what people are wanting from me – should I charge by the time it takes me or a flat fee for the effect?
Any help/suggestions is appreciated!

A very important consideration is to make sure you have a good handle on what you would be paid should you be working for someone else.
Businesses work on a profit, so you would need to add all the Expenses normally incurred to what you would be paid, then set your price accordingly.
A little research will go a long way to make sure you don’t shortchange your self or not be competitive.

I would take the shots separate and use Photoshop to edit and compose your single montage image.

What is the purpose of the photograph titled?

Like … My friend has a peak where everything shows her hair color, and everything else is black and white. I asked my friend as he did, but forgot = D anyone know what it's called? And where I can edit my photos with this?

You can use the GIMP for selective staining. It is free to download. Http: / / gimp.org Here's how: http://www.gimpguru.org/Tutorials/SelectiveColorization/ Here is another method that is somewhat easier than GIMP tutorial mentioned above. What is written that is related to Photoshop, but the same procedure should work in the GIMP, possibly with some minor changes in the names of the tool. First Open your picture in your editing program .. Then go to Layer – Duplicate Layer Click OK, then go to Image – Adjustments – Hue / Saturation Play Drag the Saturation slider all to the left to take the photo in black and white. OK and then get the Eraser tool in the toolbox on the left side of the screen. Usually, the next tool in the Stamp tool clone. Simply place your mouse over the tool, and that Draft. When you select the eraser, refresh the options box at the top of the screen, and click downfacing the arrow. Set the brush hardness to 100% if you have precise control over the selection. You may also need to increase or decrease the brush size accordingly. Wipe away any black and white where you want the color to be revealed. Once done go to Layer – Flatten Image Then do a Save As to which to save the image. steve
