How can I add some color to a black and white photo?
I am trying to achieve this look for my photos:

I do not have photoshop and really don’t want to buy it. i do have Picassa. Does anyone know of a way for me to get this effect for my photos without buying an expensive software?
or…. Has anyone heard of any special markers that you can just color on the photo after it is printed? I just wanted to give a few of these cool photos of my daughter as Christmas gifts so they don’t have to look completely professional. Any tips would help.

Can some body please help me with a photography question?
I have a DSLR camera and am going to be taking some pictures and then editing them with Paint Shop Pro X. I need desperate help as I am trying to find out how to get a certain effect. Looks to me like there was very little editing done on those photos. Just shoot at between 50mm and 100mm focal length (I’m guessing), and a wide aperture, like f/2.8 or wider. Then make sure there’s a bright source of light (like the sky or the sun) behind your subject, and expose for the subject’s face rather than the whole scene. It blows the background, making the whole shot look very high-key.
I doubt there was much added in post-processing to the photos, besides a minor tone curve adjustment and maybe some sharpening.

For more saturation you want to go to … Image Adjustments>> Saturation and play with him. Also in the same domain, you can play with curves to carry out what he wants. So there is a slight greenish tint. You can with RGB curves or just go to image adjustments> color balance. It could also play brightness. Photoshop is all about playing with tools in hand to find the desired effect. Have fun with it and just mess arount!
