Photography classes?

Where can i take classes on photography? i’m currently in high school and i doubt i’m gonna graduate. So i guess the main thing i’m trying to ask is can you take classes at like a college even if ur not in college? i’m in the Atlanta area if that’s of any consequence to know. Also, how do the classes owrk? i mean, what exactly do you learn? Is it like basic on how to aim the camera or like the technical terms for stuff? How much would they cost?
Please and Tahnk you for any help at all. ^_^

First of all you NEED to graduate from high school … getting a GED later is harder and you need one or the other.

Next if you expect to take any classes in photography, you will usually need to get into some kind of college.

In any profession there are three important factors for success.

Education
Competence with the tools you use
Experience

You will probably need a 35 mm SLR camera and lens as a prerequisite for the class.

Read some of the links on this website and you will know there is more to photography than just aiming the camera and learning technical terms.

Where are some Photography Classes for teens?

I’m getting really interested in Photography, but I’m having trouble finding some teen classes in Atlanta, does anyone know any good classes?

Check your local community centers and colleges. Check your local Craigslist or put a free ad in it.
Ask at your local camera stores.

If all else fails, there are limitless resources available, including these:

Read your manual !!!! Read it several times, and practice in between.

Become a regular visitor to your local library.

The major camera manufacturers (like Canon, Nikon, Olympus etc) all have very useful sections on their website for learning about photography.

Photography Classes?

I am in the Atlanta area and looking for a place to take a few photography classes/courses. Like a 6 month course or something. Any help?

There are many photography workshops throughout the greater Atanta metro area offered by Pisconeri Studios, Emory University, AI, and SCAD. Really, all you have to do is get on yahoo search and search “photography classes in Atlanta”, and you’ll find plenty. If you are looking for college courses, and still put off by tuition prices of AI or SCAD, you don’t have to enroll in a full semister, you can always take a class here and there. Photography is an artform that does not neccessarily require a degree. A lot of what photographers do is learn on their own, through trial and error. I suggest you get yourself a good camera, perhaps an older model digital SLR through either the AJC classifieds or atlanta craigslist, but yourself a few books from barnes and noble like “Understanding Exposure” by Bryan Peterson and build yourself a good foundation and when you are able, enroll yourself in a class or two. Workshops are great for giving you real hands on instruction in many different aspects of photography and though it may not result in a degree or certificate, you can learn a lot. I’ve supplied you with a few links.
