What careers would be available to me with a degree in Photography and Imaging?
With a 4 year degree in Photography and Imaging from NYU, what are some possible career opportunities?

Careers that include Photoshop and Photography?
I really love photography and photo editing. But I’m not sure what to major in or what careers that include both of them. I’ve read that being a Graphic Designer includes using Photoshop but I didn’t see if they did any photography or not. Is there any well-paying careers that mainly include photography and photo editing?
Right now, there aren’t many jobs available in any field. So, all things being equal, major in something your heart would choose, something you would truly enjoy doing. After all the smoke clears, preferably in sync with your graduation, everything will be a marketable skill. If it’s photography you’re interested in, pursue it, but realize that a “professional photographer” in modern times is a businessperson first and foremost, then an artist.
My strongest advice, just to eliminate question marks for your future financial security, is to double-major in either a) photography/graphic arts and business, or b) two subjects which are considerably, but not totally, different from one another…

Photography careers?
I want to change jobs.
I have had some classes in photography and have experience in some small contracted jobs– but I’ve never done it professionally.
I want to know what’s required to be a professional photog– something for weddings, portraits, etc.
I am building up equipment, but I know that nowadays, most people prefer digital.
What’s required to get started (equipment) and are there any credentials I’d need?
I’m trying to make at least $27,000 a year.
The most important thing to have is experience. Wedding photographers only have a moment to capture a picture just right. Plus, you can’t move people around for a majority of the pictures. You should work for someone, shadow them and do things like that first. It takes a lot of work to be able to handle the responsibility of capturing the most important day of someone’s life.
Equipment-wise…you’ll need at least the following:
Two camera bodies (one is a back up)
A good variety of very fast lenses.
A few extra batteries
Reflectors
A good tripod (Bogen-Manfrotto is quite reputable)
A flash or two, and a Fong Lightsphere for each
Stands for the flashes, so that you can use them off camera too.
