FASHION Design in Southern California?
I am currently in high school in PA (last place to be if your love the beach) and I’m going to college in North Carolina, because we also have another house down there and I can establish a residency and go for a cheaper price.
Now I’ve always dreamed about living in southern CA. Please dont lecture me about wildfires and earthquakes and insane prices of living, Im too young to go that far.
I want to work somewhere in fashion, either be a designer for a fashion merchandiser or work for a fashion magazine… I started a little jewelry business I have a website and business cards and everything… and that’s pretty impressive for a 15-year-old. so maybe I could work off making that grow into something really big
I know for a fact that I can’t just jump off the college band wagon and achieve this so no lectures about that either
Photography is my fallback, I could take pictures of the beach, or I could STILL work in fashion as a photographer-it comes naturally to me …
ADVICE??
I work as a semi professional model, and I have had the pleasure to work with many talented photographers.
So that being said, I have met different types of photographers. Some went to school for it, some started still photographing and eventually got into fashion photography.
It takes a lot to be able to photograph people, especially in their best. But if you can start practicing now… I’m sure you will be great at it!
If you want to do the fashion world stuff, you can try to get an internship for vogue or any other famous fashion magazines… that would be a great start!
Good luck!

i cant decide on a career?
okay so im an artist, but i get bored with it very fast so i dont want to go to art school. i love to read but im a terrible at spelling and grammar! and i cant write anything creative, only good at bsing facts. i love photography, but i cant see myself making a career out of it. i wanted to be a fashion designer, but im sick of sewing. im really into making jewelry, but how far can i go with that? so you see, im stumped. my interests change so fast and its pretty annoying. i just graduated and im going to americorps for a year to give myself some time to think and experience new things. so any career suggestions? i would perfer something where i could read novels a lot (dream job), my mom is always on my case about reading and not getting anything done so it would be great to have an excuse. so any creative suggestions? thanks a bunch!!!
Here are somethings I would recommend.
Teaching – art therapy is very up and coming, especially as rehabilitation and also working with kids.
Museum/Art Curator – The constantly changing atmosphere would probably be good for you.
Technical Writer – You’d probably need to brush up on spelling and grammar, but you could probably write better History stories than most text books.
Research Assistant – Helping people who specialize in a certain field look up information and sources.
Critic – Probably would require going to school for a good resume. But going to local stores, events, galores and writing your opinion for others.
There are also plenty of sites you can find using a search engine that have “What job is right for you” quizzes. Good Luck.

Your photos are beautiful. In fact, impressive! If you believe in yourself you can do anything you put your mind and succeed. If still in high school, you may actually be building your CV now to send to different places you want to work, volunteering or an internship with the extension. Even research into mentoring programs. While in school, see if you can work as freelance for newspapers, magazines, etc, as it is flexible and can always focus on their schoolwork. If this is your dream to follow because it is yours for a reason and there may be large. Nobody else. I am a student Art History now and people tell me I'm going to be "hungry." No, I do not want, and I never talk about those things. I work hard and I'm visiting exhibitions as I can, volunteering, interested in art itself, and a database of art history as well. It can be done! When you have a passion for something and do, excel!
