A good digital camera to photograph landscapes and nature?

I love photography, I took it as a alevel but I Proffesional my camera, just a normal little money i paid enough schools just to be honest lol, wernt so great. I take pictures landscape and nature, I am on sabbatical and travel around Europe so do not want it to be too large. I think the best thing that would happen £ 600, I think it's a little over $ 1000 for the Americans! Any suggestions would be great! Thank you x
